Investigators reported that the accused gang-raped a 27-year-old Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old Indian homestay host. During the attack, three male companions were pushed into a canal, leading to the death of a tourist from Odisha due to drowning.

The First Additional District and Sessions Court in Gangavathi sentenced Mallesh, Sai, and Sharanappa to death after convicting them of gang rape, murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
